Welcome to Heart of Florida Legal Aid Society

Our Mission

Heart of Florida Legal Aid Society was founded in 1968 with a mission to work collaboratively with donors, clients, and partner programs to protect survivors of domestic violence, promote economic self-sufficiency in our communities, and foster stability for low-income families through quality and strategic legal advocacy.

Heart of Florida Legal Aid Society is a nonprofit law firm providing free civil legal assistance to low income communities and individuals in the Tenth Judicial Circuit of Florida.  Our service area includes Polk, Hardee, and Highlands counties.  HOFLA's practice areas include family law, domestic violence, and immigration.

You Can Make A Difference!

With over 100,000 low income individuals and families in our community, the need for free civil legal assistance is great.  Studies show that up to 86% of civil legal problems reported by low-income Americans received inadequate or no legal help.  Your commitment to civil legal aid and Heart of Florida Legal Aid Society will help uplift our community as we work with clients to address their legal needs with a goal of reaching family and individual stability.
